Award Citation
The Calling Over Nagula is utterly captivating in its apparent simplicity and grace.
A delightful temporary installation, reminding us that all solid things are, ultimately, temporary. It embodies important local cultural and historical narratives and in doing so, captures facets of Broome’s distinctive character.
Guided by the sacredness of the site, it touches the earth lightly, with technical challenges elegantly resolved. Its use of local materials and contractors further demonstrates leadership and a strong commitment to sustainability. It is a compelling achievement for the small budget and small footprint within which the project was realised.
