When the Hanshin earthquake hit Japan in 1994, Shigeru Ban (Japanese architect) was commissioned to construct a temporary shelter for the victims using large paper tubing as walls and other materials to construct the rest of it. This piece was inspired by Shigeru's ingenuity of using a paper based material as a problem solving technology. Although this piece is not 'technically' large and functional but the spirit and reflection of his work is present - technical and challenging in its own way.
