I am honoured to have been appointed to the Board of the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA), Australia's peak body for the visual and media arts, craft and design sector.
Throughout my career as a practising artist, educator and facilitator, I have witnessed the important role NAVA plays in advocating for artists' rights, fair remuneration, professional standards and sustainable creative careers. Its ongoing work continues to strengthen the visual arts sector and support artists at all stages of their practice.
As an artist based on Yawuru Country in Broome, Western Australia, I bring a regional perspective shaped by working across metropolitan, regional and remote communities. I look forward to contributing to conversations that support artists and arts workers throughout Australia, particularly those working beyond major urban centres.
I would also like to acknowledge the significant contribution of past and present Board members whose leadership, advocacy and commitment have helped shape NAVA into the respected national organisation it is today. Their work has created meaningful change for artists and arts workers across the country and laid a strong foundation for future generations.
I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this next chapter and look forward to supporting NAVA's ongoing advocacy for a thriving, equitable and sustainable arts sector.
