Joss paper

Creative WA Fellowship — Announcement

I am deeply honoured to be a recipient of the Creative WA Arts Development Fellowship, announced by the Department of Creative Industries Tourism and Sport.

This significant investment supports a new phase of research and creative development centred on Ashes & Afterlives: Joss Paper, Craft Lineages, and Climate-Conscious Rituals. The fellowship provides critical time and resources to deepen investigations into the cultural, material and environmental dimensions of joss paper practices—tracing their intergenerational transmission, transformation, and future possibilities.

This initiative forms part of a broader commitment by the Western Australian Government to strengthen the State’s creative workforce, supporting artists to expand their practice, build skills and contribute to a resilient creative ecosystem.

I am sincerely grateful to the WA Government and the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport for this acknowledgement and opportunity.

I look forward to sharing this evolving body of research in the coming years.
