Thrums wip

'Slow Read' at Hawthorn Art Centre

I’m pleased to be part of Slow Read, an exhibition in conjunction with Melbourne Writers Festival that gently resists the pace of constant scrolling, returning attention to the printed page and to quieter acts of looking and reading. My work, Thrums (2023), unfolds through material and memory—woven from kozo offcuts, recycled calendar papers and nylon, carrying traces of ritual and the marking of time. Here, text loosens its hold on legibility and shifts toward presence, inviting a slower encounter where meaning emerges through touch, repetition and care. I’m grateful to be in dialogue with a group of artists exploring the book as both form and space, where reading becomes an embodied and unfolding experience.

Exhibition: Slow Read
